The Leo T. Cronin Fish Viewing Area, located along Lagunitas Creek in West Marin is one of Marin Municipal Water District's prime spots to view spawning (endangered) Coho salmon. At the small parking lot there is informational panels about the salmon, a bench and a vantage point from which to view salmon in the creek below. The best time to visit is November through February.

Trail Overview: The draw here is to be able to view spawning salmon in Lagunitas Creek. The densely forested trail that follows alongside the creek is bumpy and in a wheelchair you can only go about 1000 feet before the trail splits and in either direction climbs very steeply and has uneven terrain. No worries though because up to that point you’re able to see the salmon in the clear waters from many vantage points all while listening to birdsong that fills the forest. This is not necessarily a destination trail but deserves a stop on your way to the coast.

- There is a trailhead for the Cross Marin Trail across Sir Francis Drake Road from the parking lot; there’s no crosswalk but everyone crosses here. The firm-packed dirt and gravel trail is lush with foilage that provides a screen from the nearby road. It’s approximately a 1-mile hike to the developed area of Samuel P. Taylor Park after which the trail becomes asphalt for another few miles.
