Goat Rock Beach is one of several pocket beaches within the Sonoma Coast State Park system however, due to strong rip currents and sneaker waves, swimming is restricted. A long road leads down to a northern and southern parking lot. The only access features at the north lot are parking and a restroom. For views of the ocean and to possibly get a glimpse of river otters, harbor seals, and osprey, park at the south lot. You'll also get views of massive Goat Rock, an iconic outcrop of the Sonoma Coast, which is barely attached to the mainland by a narrow isthmus.
